Nature of the service
Safety at sea
Noroît is a decision aid. Forecasts come from numerical models and can be wrong; the bathymetry and hazards shown are incomplete and do not take today’s tide into account. Noroît does not replace official weather forecasts, official nautical charts or keeping watch on board. The skipper remains solely responsible for handling the vessel.
Data sources and licenses
Noroît relies on open data. Here are the sources and their terms of reuse:
- Weather and marine forecasts: Open-Meteo, under the CC BY 4.0 license, based on models from national and international services (ECMWF, NOAA, DWD, Météo-France, Met Office, ECCC…) and on Copernicus products for waves and currents.
- Bathymetry: EMODnet Bathymetry (European Marine Observation and Data Network), open data reusable with attribution.
- Seamarks and hazards: © OpenStreetMap and OpenSeaMap contributors, under the ODbL license.
- Coastline: Natural Earth, public domain.
- Base maps: © Esri and its data providers; © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Navionics® is a trademark of Garmin Ltd. or its subsidiaries. The Noroît “Navionics” view uses the official module provided by Garmin, under its terms. Noroît is affiliated neither with Garmin nor with Navionics, nor with the weather services whose data it displays.

The Noroît brand, the design of the website, its texts, illustrations and the application software are the property of INFODUX LLC. Any reproduction or reuse without prior written permission is prohibited, subject to the licenses of the open data listed above, which remain governed by their own terms.
